Unremarkably Happy!

Mama: Finland holds the number one spot for world’s happiest country. I have to admit I was expecting a lot of Santa Claus-esque happiness emminating from every which way, but it’s pretty chill here. From the “Discover Helsinki” pamphlet on the boat, Finns enjoy such things as quiet saunas and whispering on public transit, and apparently there is no such thing as an “awkward” silence in conversation. Maybe I’ll need to look a little closer to see where all the happiness is coming from! 🤔 Or maybe it’s as simple as every bed in Finland being a top bunk??
Bun: We woke up on the boat this morning. And tonight we get to sleep in the TOP BUNK! I’m so excited. This is going to be great. 
Bud: We went to a playground after dinner. We get to sleep in the top bunk tonight and mommy won’t move us. This will be my first WHOLE night in a top bunk. 


I had zero (ZERO?!) pictures from the day. The most eventful part of the day may have been loading nine backpacks into this day locker - Tetris style. It took three tries, but we did it!!

  Mama: Good-bye Korčula! We packed up the car and plotted the road to the Eye of the Earth - a really cool freshwater spring - at Bud’s request. And after one ferry, two giant bridges, seven u-turns and 200 km, we arrived! It was really cool. And really cold!! It was unexpected, but was probably 5 C! We checked it out and then split for Split! (Great mama joke!) Papa: Google maps has not perfected Croatia. The highways were great, but as soon as you exited, all bets were off! The eye was cool, but definitely needed a drone. It was nice to get to Split. We arrived and unloaded and then found a delicious Indian restaurant in the old town.  Bud: It was a really long and tiring car drive, but it was worth it to see the eye! We don’t know why, but the spring was really cold! Colder than the hotel pool. We weren’t allowed to swim in the spring, but I don’t know if we would have anyway. It was that cold! Rome then Home!

Mama: We packed up and said good bye to Croatia! The flight was quick and on time. We landed in almost 40 degree heat! It cooled down a tiny bit and we walked for pizza and a quick look at the Colosseum! Kinda bonkers.  Papa: We can see the Colosseum from the hotel. That’s pretty cool.  Bud: I’m excited to something new! The Colosseum is pretty crazy. I can’t wait to see inside.  Bun: Going to Rome is super exciting because one of my friends did her expository on Rome and she was right! I love it in Rome, even though it’s hot 🥵.

“Hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo...”

Mama: Clearly Joey Tribbiani has never been to the foothills of mount Tibidabo. We decided to hike instead of take the funicular. It was supposed to be 20 minutes, but with the unmarked path and useless Google directions, it was closer to 90!! But there was some stunning views. We went to the Tibidabo Amusement Park and then home to get ready to leave.  Bud: I got to go on the bumper cars! And we got to hike up a mountain and we got candy. The bumper cars were so fun! Bun: We got to go on Farris wheel. It was so fun! We even got to go on a merry go round. Me and daddy did a bubble hairdo for Bud!
